Technique Sessions

One-on-one technique sessions are ideal for intermediate to advanced lifters who want reassurance that their training is safe, effective, and moving in the right direction.

Do you lift in the gym without a coach? Are you not quite sure if your lifting technique is correct? Do you experience pain or discomfort when lifting? And do you want to get the most out of your gym sessions?

In your 90-minute session, an experienced powerlifting coach will analyse, assess and then optimise your technique across the barbell lifts. We’ll make adjustments to stance, grip, bar placement, tempo, balance and many other variables to find the strongest technique for you. These changes can have a huge impact on your progress and comfort.

You’ll train in a calm, professional environment where the focus is entirely on you and your lifting. Your coach will take the time to understand how you move, and how you are programming your training currently, then help you to refine both to maximise the quality and effectiveness of your training.

Private sessions are also a great opportunity to pick a coach’s brain. We encourage questions and discussion, whether that’s around technique, managing fatigue, competition prep, or how to structure your training when you’re coaching yourself. The goal is to have you leave the session with a clearer understanding of your own lifting, and how to bridge the gap between how you’re training now and where you want to go.

After your session, your coach will provide a detailed summary covering what you worked on, key technical focus points, and practical recommendations for future programming. This way, the session continues to add value once you’re back training on your own.

For lifters visiting Melbourne, private sessions are a great way to train at The Strength Fortress and spend time learning from our coaching team while you’re in the city.

Whether you’re dropping in for a technical tune-up, are seeking professional advice for the first time or simply want a set of experienced eyes on your lifts, you’ll find a supportive, professional coaching experience here.

Tina squatting, author of the testimonial

I joined TSF in mid 2021. I wanted to get more out of lifting - not only to improve at my major lifts and potentially compete, but to also improve my form and technique to ensure longevity. I had previously struggled with lower back issues and knee pain from deadlifting and squatting by myself, as well as seeing slow progress from inadequate programming. While I’d tried personal trainers in the past, I found that few actually had enough knowledge in powerlifting to coach me through harder technique changes, or had programming that was personal enough for my specific training situation.

As soon as I walked in to TSF, I noticed a massive difference— everyone here is motivated and passionate about powerlifting, the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and supportive, and you actually get to train on equipment that’s used in national level competition! Ever since joining, I’ve noticed a tremendous difference, not only in the way my body feels and how much I’ve been able to lift, but also in the way I view powerlifting as a whole. Lifting became a team sport, I’ve made lasting friendships and many upon many treasured memories. I can’t think of a better place and better people to embark with on this journey!
