Strength Training for Seniors

Maintaining the strength of our muscles and bones becomes increasingly important as we age. We love working with our senior members here at The Strength Fortress to help them stay healthy, strong and independent.

Strength training can be a powerful tool to help an ageing population maintain their strength, mobility and independence.

With a proper resistance training program, we can not only slow the effects of ageing but also build muscle, improve bone density, improve coordination and balance and overall quality of life. For women, strength training is even more beneficial, to fight the effects of osteoporosis and sarcopenia (muscle loss).

Strength training not only helps us live longer, but also a more active and fulfilling life.

With our seniors in the gym, our training goes beyond simply lifting weights. Once they’ve built a foundation in the gym, we work on balance, coordination, agility and power, so that they can move through life confidently and independently.

Building these qualities goes a long way in preventing falls and the associated challenges.

Beyond slowing the ageing process, our senior members enjoy their training! The gym is a fantastic environment to cultivate friendships, become part of community, participate and volunteer within community events and enjoy social sport.

We have a wonderful community of senior members within The Strength Fortress, who come to us with diverse backgrounds, exercise history and level of experience. Whether you’ve been active your whole life or not at all, we will meet you at your level and build your strength and ability from here!

For those interested in social sport, we love supporting you in that too!

If you’re interested in getting started, get in touch. We’ll take you through a 1-1 session to assess your current ability and to discuss the best training plan for you!
